homegrown
Emerging country singer-songwriter Laura Cusack recently recorded her third single, Homegrown, with producer TRILLA — and needed imagery that felt deeply aligned with both her sound and story.
With a clear creative vision inspired by country music nostalgia, Laura concept was ideas of an old train station, vintage suitcase, cowboy boots and her signature hat. We met at the decommissioned Murwillumbah train station, where we began capturing that timeless, small-town country essence before I couldn't help myself but venturing into abandoned railway remnants and wild overgrown fields. The shift in locations gave us richer softer imagery.
The final gallery was edited with warm, but bight tones that helped bring Homegrown fully to life visually, creating imagery that feels both heartfelt and artistically elevated. Sometimes it's hard to see how the final result will show up in the back of the camera screen.
Laura selected the first image in this series (below) as her official single cover — a frame that perfectly captures the spirit of Homegrown: grounded, feminine, free-spirited and unmistakably country.
"The images are so great Tani! I love the vibrancy. I think the diversity between the shot in the flowers and the one on the tracks is great too! I'll use the rest for social content. Thank you!"
